New SPEDION App feature: mobile tyre pressure and temperature monitoring

Tyres play a crucial role in the safety of every vehicle. But they can become unreliable when operating outside their recommended pressure and temperature range. Under-inflated tyres wear out faster and can increase your vehicle's fuel consumption. Over-inflated tyres or tyres operating beyond their temperature limits due to a stuck brake calliper, for example, run the risk of failing and could cause an accident. A drop in tyre pressure of just 0.5 bar (7.5 psi) can bring about driving behaviour changes that can increase fuel consumption by as much five percent.

Several onboard tyre monitoring systems are available to help you keep a check on the pressure and temperature of your truck and trailer tyres, even while you're on the road. Vehicles either come with a factory-fitted system or you can retrofit one later. Because we work in close cooperation with several software developers, our SPEDION telematics system can also access the data from several onboard tyre monitoring systems like Continental's ContiPressureCheck, ALLIGATOR'S sens.it, TPMS from IMPAQED, and Michelin's EFFITRAILER. This information is then available to your fleet management via the SPEDIONline web portal. And with the SPEDION App's new Tyre Pressure Monitoring feature, the tyre data can now be displayed on the driver's mobile device. With our traffic-light-system, a driver only has to glance at their screen to see which tyres are functioning correctly (in the green zone) or operating outside the normal pressure or temperature range. The feature also allows you to set an alert to warn you or your drivers if these values exceed or fall below a given range, enabling you to react at once and avoid an accident.
